I need help........... how do I pipe a gravity domestic hot water circulating system. I just installed a hot water maker ( side arm to my boiler), I also installed a return line which is attached to my domestic hot water line at the furthest plumbing fixture and ran the line up to the hot water maker, it is not connected yet. I think what is throwing me off is the fact that the domestic cold enters at the bottom of the tank...........help !!!

install a tee where the domestic cold goes in the heater. then a ball valve followed by an adapter tee with boiler drain followed buy a swing check valve then your recirculating line. the swing check stops the domestic cold from going where you don't want it to go. the ball valve and boiler drain will allow you to get every gram of air out of your gravity recirc which you must to to avoid noise and malfunction. a spring loaded check valve while better in most check valve applications, requires more force than the quiet flow o gravity to open and will not work0
