Outdoor reset on typical residential fin-tube job?

I just installed a Tekmar 260 on my boiler and added and indirect. I have 3 zones of fin tube and a little radiant in the house. I added a time clock and the run time is down 41%. Fuel savings to be calculated later....definitely worth the "investment"

Outdoor reset on typical residential fin-tube job?

    Dear Wallies new and old,

My guess is that for conventional residential zoned fin-tube, an outdoor reset added to an existing conventional boiler set to limit at 180 F. will save a minimum of 10%.

I don't trust guesses that much.

Anybody out there who has "been there, done that?"

    What did you learn?

    Thanks!

  • I installed a simple Tekmar 256 on my 3 zone fin tube system
and see a comsumption savings of 26%. I calculate the gas use by CCF per degree day as opposed to the year before I installed the outdoor reset control. Ask your utility company to send you the last 18 months of records of your gas use and see how many degree days were in the billing month. With this info, you can roughly figure the CCF per degree day last year as opposed to this year.
I do notice that the circulator pump runs more, but, the over all comfort is better.
