... coil intended for domestic hot water? If so, the relief valve (it does have a relief valve, right?) will be likely be set substantially higher than the one on the existing system. If you have to start fooling with relief valves, I personally wouldn't touch this project. The high limit setting issue wouldn't bother me nearly as much as "mixing & matching" relief valves.

How to tie a coal stove w/hot water coil into a standard boiler

I have been asked by a customer if I could tie a coal stove he has with a factory installed hot water heating coil in it to his conventional hot water heating boiler. He currently has 180 degree zones and a radiant zone off the boiler. How is this piped into the boiler and how is the excess heat produced by the coil in the coal stove accounted for when the high limit setting of the boiler is reached?
