Disconnecting a radiator

I need to disconnect a small radiator from my single pipe steam system so that I can get it refinished. I also want to replace the shut-off valve, which doesn't close fully even though it appears relatively new.
Any tips on disconnecting the radiator and moving it? It's only 4 fins, so it's relatively light weight.
Also, what can I do to avoid breaking the steam pipe when I take off the valve? I'm nervous about cracking the pipe.

That should be easy
gently loosen the lock nut between the valve and the radiator. You would turn the nut counterclockwise if you are looking at the valve from the side where the radiator is.
If you can take the valve apart, take the stem to a supply house to see if they have a washer big enough to fit. If not, removing the tailpiece from the radiator can be very difficult, and you may want to hire a pro to do it.All Steamed Up, Inc.
