Barometric muffler?

Cosmo_3

I have a job coming up- 2 200K btu boilers venting into a 30' high manufactured exterior chimney (z-vent insulated S.S.), noise will be an issue as there will be a guestroom above the boilers (bed and breakfast). Anybody see anything that can be installed on the barometric dampers to cut the noise?

Thanks for any info

sound insulation may be the answer

Time to think outside the box- if noise is a factor, insulate the ceiling of the boiler room for sound.

Place fiberglass insulation between the beams and cover the ceiling and or walls with 2 layers of 5/8’’ sheet rock, seal all holes for piping, conduit etc with expanding foam to prevent vibration and prevent sound from getting through.
Spackle, tape and paint. (Be sure to leave a way for fresh air to get into the boiler room, you will need alot for 400,000 btu.)

Sell it to the client as a nice extra for sound proofing and Fire proofing in one. Good luck MG

    Flue silencers

The flue silencers that we offer are to help reduce "chimney" noise. Sound waves, generated by the burner, "roar" when they enter the chimney. This roaring sound is generally heard in the chimney or outside. The flue silencer reduces the sound by asborbing and breaking up the sound waves. Not sure if this is what you are looking for. The flue silencers can be used on boilers other than Buderus. Thanks,
