Painting Radiators
What would be the best type of paint and primer for painting old cast iron radiators?.Are there any brands that any of you would endorse? .0 -
The best method is to have the radiator bead blasted. Oil based primer and oil base finish. Spray application is the best method. Hi temperature ( ie stove paint or automotive engine paint is not necessary )

Silver seems to be the most popular color, but thermally the worst choice.
Flat black radiates the most heatThere was an error rendering this rich post.

I believe the definitive answer on radiator paints given by Dan himself lives here:

Painting CI Rads
There is a local shop that will paint CI rads but there most expensive finish is where they remove all of the paint, and wire brush all of the surfaces. Then they apply a laquer clear coat. The CI Rads end up with a very rich looking chest-nut brown appearance. I would like to know how much, if andhy, that clear coat finish reduces the heat emitting performance over say a flat black paint?0
