I have been dealing with boilers for approximatley 11 years. I know some of you have been doing this a lot longer.
I made a post in the thread yesterday that invloved the Viessmann Vitola boiler, and so did other people. I am glad that I am in an industry that there are some many educated people.
I just want to know how do the boiler manufacturers fair with our industry requirements. Do they offer good customer service? do they have a strong technical base?
I know that the majority use and service cast iron boilers. If a good quility CI is used this boiler should last 30+ years, but when it does fail are we told why it failed (warranty or non warrnaty), of the boilers the we have seen fail is it due to manufacturers defect? My experience is that it is not due to manufacturers defect.
Sales are great how are you treated after the sale has been made? Do you get good service? Do you get fair treatment for warranties?
I know of companies that will just warranty everything, no explanation, no report. In most cases the customer is happy the item is warrantied and maybe labour. Is the manufacturer improving thier product or do they just throw money at the problem and hope it goes away.
I know that homeowners come to this site and ask questions, this is a good way for them to be educated. I also know that manufacturers come to this site to browse around and post.
In North America we have many options when it comes to the boiler we want to install. In a time when information is readily available, it helps when we can help each other to make informed decisions.
I know I have been all over the place with this, but I think with more and more people choosing hot water heating, this would be something good for them to read
