...picking out the proper size hammer for the job.I try to help contractors out of really deep holes that thay dug for themselves.I try to diagnose all types of machinery over the phone with very little, ommitted and or false information.I get to converse with some of the brightest minds...and some that are alittle dull.I guess my specialty
is just trying to be as helpful as possible.

    mine is HVAC Control Strategies

I have always wondered what each of the fine gentlemen who frequent here specialize in.

Although I have gone through and successfully completed a Heating and Air Conditioning apprenticeship and worked in this field ever since, totaling now 14 years, I have specialized in HVAC Control Strategies.

What is it that you have specialized in??

Thanks for any replies in advance.

My wife says my specialty is hot air, does that make me a scorched air guy or could it be said that there is enough vapor to call me a steam guy..........................

    not really one

I don't think I can say I specialize in anyone one thing. I do however truely love control system's and hydronic's. I like to start a new or replacement system from scratch and do it all....

    Let's See...

I used to specialize in installing great hot water systems and losing my shirt in the process. Really.

My mantra now: "I specialize in the design and installation of high-quality forced hot water and radiant heating systems".

If I like the customer, I will also accept them as an on-going service account.

I don't do random-call cleanings, emergencies or service work without a good referral. I've lost WAY too much money doing that in the past.

LCHMB, I try to specialize in the job at hand. I look for all the little things that will make the job turn into 1 great thing. Controls are the biggest part but what the customer asks for is what I try to achieve.

Knowing the ways that they can be achieved is my goal....I hope to mnake it a specialty as a rule. (not there yet but working on it) Chris

    bringing it back up...

Like Ted G said, my speciality is comfort.

Forced air comfort. :) I try to do more hot water heat, but since we have to have the cooling down here combined with the high humidity, I'm sorta stuck.

    Technology and Innovation Management

I help people figure out what to do with their intellectual property portfolios. Like a gardener, the practice I run takes stock of the ideas, objectively rates them, prunes the dead ends, and then helps the client find a good home either inside or outside the company for the rest.

    good question

I guess I specialized in absorbing any good techniques and knowledge from all the great tech's I've had the honor and privilege to work with over the years, "most of the best and I'd say a high percentage of that learning came from my time at New England Mechanical Services", and now I specialize in transferring that knowledge to my students.

NEMSI does something that maybe others should too, they have classes at the shop, taught by other techs, in boilers, controls, pneumatics, whatever, they cross train, it's like this " there will be a class on Tuesday, pizza, soda on {whatever}", you show up, you learn, they get better techs, it's a win win all around.
