Old snow melt

I was reading in the library the old snowmelt lit. from the 40's and 50's does anyone know if any of these old systems are still in use. We have been doing a lot of snowmelt for the last ten years or more. The oldest system we service is in a horse stable, copper pipe, built in the early seventies.

We have one where the original portion dates back to the 40's era. Black-iron under mecadam. Someone plunked down a non-barrier quest front porch zone a few decades ago and we added a PEX sidewalk zone about ten years back.
