Anode in a boiler feed tank

My question is there ever a need for a anode bar in a boiler feed tank that has steam applied to heat the water and is vented to the outside.

Never occurred to me but I could see the application helping if you have a steel receiver. Seems like a good idea as a preventative and I cannot see it hurt anything.
Certainly the water quality and degree of O2 control would play a role. Obviously you are pre-heating the boiler feed water so have that in mind.
I specify cast iron almost exclusively so that kind of deterioration has not been an issue. Got me thinking... I will sit back and read what others have to say.0
