I am working on an older restaurant/hotel built in the early 1900's. The old radiator system is still in place, steam boiler. It is a 2 pipe system with 1' supplies to each radiator and a 3/4 return to a dry return system. The problem is I get minimun heat to radiators on the
1st floor of a 2 story bldg. There are no traps on the radiators in this system, at least none at the radiators. Each radiator in the system has hoffman vents and the dry return has one main air vent at the boiler area. I have never seen a 2 pipe system w/o traps at the radiators. Is this a design flaw or is this another type of system? The heat does better on the first floor as the day warms up, I assume because of the load reduction upstairs. any suggestions? Thanks.0
