System 2000 can be the right solution for many problems. Before choosing a boiler you should evaluate the complete needs of your heating system and select a heat plant who's strong points harmonize with your usage.

If I had a multi-zone high temperature baseboard or hydro-air system with domestic hot water and the client wanted to burn fuel oil, an EK would be a nice way to go. If you want to install something more efficient than a standard cast iron boiler and do not want to use outdoor reset from a Tekmar, this will give you a way to improve efficiency for your customer.

Good water quality is critical in the use of plate heat exchangers so you will want to test for hardness in particular along with iron or other pollutants that could derate or plug the heat exchanger because that design uses very tight passages to maximize heat transfer in a small package.

I would not select a boiler like this for a radiant system or any other low temperature design because it does not like low water temperatures or low flow typical in a radiant system. System 2000 requires a thermal storage tank as a place to dump heat and prevent short cycling of the boiler in a radiant system. For this reason, I would lean more towards a condensing modulating design that plays to the strong hand in radiant floor heating and will have improved efficiencies with that usage. Also, there are specific piping requirements for a high mass system to prevent soot formation due to condensation in the System 2000 in spite of the return water sensor.

Like all things in this business, know your product before specifying it. Having this knowledge will prepare you to answer the tough questions an informed customer will ask you and will help make you the more professional choice in comparison.

    any one installing these

is anyone installing these boilers? how do they install and run

  • I love these boilers passionately.

They are quieter than a microwave. I love how the hot water is circulated from the plate exchanger to the tank, keeping the entire 40 gallons hot. I like the positive draft switch. I could go on and on but I love everything about them.

If any of my customers want a power vented boiler, I will only propose a system 2000. The power venter itself has no other parts than an easily replaceable fan. Its controlled by the digital manager, and its prover is the very same positive draft switch that is standard on every unit.

They ship replacement parts lightning fast, and even if you didnt have a part or couldnt get one in the middle of the night, there is not one thing on there that cant be bypassed to run temporarily, and safely.

Two thumbs up in my opinion

    System 2000

Excellent tech support and a lot of literature on troubleshooting, applications, options..
The help with sales is outstanding, lots of stuff like dvd's, vcr tapes, glossy literature etc..
The boilers are extremely quiet, you can hardely tell the burner is firing.
I sell it as a premium top notch system. Remember it comes as a hot water making package. The heat exchanger is easy to service or replace.
I have used them on radiant, converted gravity, hydro-air and baseboard, also commercial applications.

Do it you wont be sorry!
