long scroll
We started a scroll for Nephew Chris who's stationed in Baghdad. I'm happy to say we'll need to add more paper as hundreds of people have signed and provided a note to send a bit of cheer.
If you know someone serving, this has been a hit with the folks here at home and no doubt will be a great spirit builder once recieved. Making one isn't too difficult. Find a roll of paper (office supply store), stop by the hardware store and grab a wooden curtain rod with fancy ends to cut down for the header (with the fancy ends) and tail, which is just the dowell portion that rolls up to tuck in with the header. looks like a Roman Scroll when finished.
He'll have a great time unrolling and reading all of the warm wishes. If anyone wants to add a comment or greeting, I'll print them out and paste them onto his scroll.
No negative comments please. This isn't as referendum on the war, it's a season's greetings to someone serving his country. Keep it civil. If someone does post something negative, please do me a favor and ignore it so the post doesn't get deleted.
Thanks & Happy Holidays

Thank you!
Thank you for standing tall against the enemies of freedom and liberty. Thank you for paying the price for the security of those I love.
Thank you for standing guard duty while I will be warm and snug in my home having dinner with my family. You and all your buddies and your families will be front and center in my prayer of thanksgiving this year. May God grant you safety and a speedy and successful end to your mission.
It is folks like you who make me continue to be proud to be an American.

Autumn Elizabeth Wood
sends you a big hug & thank you, Chris.
My 8 yr old daughter Autumn felt that I spent an inordinate amount of time at this weird heating site, Chris. But when I explained what this thread was about, she felt a little guilty about complaining.
So, she now knows that you are over there with her Uncle Billy, she sends you a big kiss and a hug on the neck.
Consider yourself well and truly hugged.
