    anyone

have any Hallmarks crack or blow a seal? I have a 8 year old one I'm going for the tune-up tommorrow and the woman says she smells it when the fan first comes on. First thing that comes to my mind is a cracked exchanger.thanks Dave

dirty filters contribute. Lets not forget grand ma and the rug over the return duct to save fuel.

    From the looks

of that furnace, I would say that it had some serious venting issues as well. Looks like the flue gases were condensing.

On your tune-up, put a digital analyser in the flue pipe and watch the O2 number when the fan comes on. If it changes, the HX is comprimised.
