although it probably will. My understanding is that it's used when you're having pH problems with the water.

Desacaling ? ascetic acid vs ?

    1. FUMES?
    2. Check with a Chemical supply and get a recomended
acid for the job. Phosphoric comes to mind, as it has less fumes that'd run you off the job. They'd also have an idea of the concentrarte and time it'd take.
    3. Safety. The days of by guess and by gosh are over. Make sure of all safety percautions before attempting this massive job, and where the contanimated fluid will be sent. It may be that the sewer system could be compromised to a very bad extent. Nothing like making sure you have a leg to STAND ON WHEN YOU PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN!

That was a concern for using the harsh stuff. I heard about vineger last year on the Wall. I can't remember the concentrations. Thanks for your concern.

I can't remember. I think the word cleaning was used and that may not include descaling. thanks

I think it was for when cleaning pipes after cuting and threading to remove the oil so it does not get into the boiler.

Check out rydlyme http://www.rydlyme.com/ biodegradeable. One gallon dissolves 2 pounds of minerals. Call Apex and see if it has been used for boiler descaling.

    The tech specs

State breathing could be affected. Any time muratic (hydrocloric) acid is present in a closed space and it gets out of its container, clorine gas is a problem! Rydlyme is hydrogen cloride by is specs sheet. Be certin you have ADEQUATE ventillatoin for this type of chemicals. I used muratic acid all my plumbers life, have had it all over me! I have learned a great respect for it. But the worst time I ever had, was delimeing in a basement. The Fumes were aweful and it was to late to do anything but get out. Sulfuric acid fumes (drain cleaning) in a closed space will kill you outright and before you know it. oil well people have a big regard of sulpherous type gasses on well sites. Even to the point of special business of safety there!

I use Rydlyme on commercial steam humidifiers all the time. It has a smell that they claim is similar to burnt almonds. It is not bad, never had a complaint. You can stick your hand into it and the "Ph" is 1. And it is food grade. But up here, it's not cheap.
