Burnham 8 zone boiler with Taco Vortec

Having the Manager of Training for Burnham Hydronics saying we're doing the right thing !

If it was up to me I would've split the 4 zones up on 2 circs using all zone valves . I shuuder to think how much energy will be used if all zones call at once . I'm glad the water heater was on a separate circuit - 15 amps might not cover the whole shebang on a hard start for everything .

Thanks again Glenn , you words are very much appreciated .

  • We started this one yesterday

in beautiful Muttontown , Long Island . Aother mansion sized house , fairly new , with no easy access to the immense basement . The boiler was a Peerless JOT 5 section , still running but the coil plate was shot to hell . The homeowner decided to go all new . That's Kenny getting ready to rip 'er out . Phil Jr. was also there in the morning to help us with the heavy stuff .
  • Burnham V85 with the Taco Vortec Air Eliminator

Anyone use these ? Very , very slow venting compared to the B+G EAS Jr. I wasn't sure if it was a defect or the way it works normally ?

It was me , Ken and George back there to complete the job today - after an hour and a half class on the new medical benefits at the office . Paul stopped by to help us out with the wiring . We pride ourselves at being the best on Long Island in the heating business and having it done faster than any of the competition . The homeowner was amazed that she was down for only a day without heat .
  • You did it again!

Once again.....a fine job indeed! You folks need to submit some of these installations for our annual calendar monthly spots. It appears as though you broke out the Laser Level again based on the neatness of the pumps and pipes! Thanks for sharing these every week Ron.

  • Hey , thanks Lchmb

The homeowner , who was Asian and knew little English , loved how it looked . A very different response from many customers who speak English very well . We're starting that big job I emailed you about next week . I'll keep you updated on the progress , thanks alot for the help . Any big one coming up for you ?

    Not sure

Do to one tech being injured and losing one tech the schedule was thrown out the window..:( I do have some installs scheduled but they are all on the back burner for now. I've been working on the gas side of things (yuck). So I'll just keep watching the nice install work you guys do!! :)
  • Sorry to hear

about your coworker being injured . I hope it isn't serious . Good help is very hard to find .

    They never learn

He had to prove he was as good as the younger guys and tore a muscle playing soft ball...He should be back in a couple weeks though. I know he's going crazy sitting around all day..:) And I'm going crazy working on gas...Give me a nice oil install anyday...

    Taco Vortec.

    Ron,

You should try the new Taco 4900 Series. I saw my first one in action a couple of weeks ago, very impressive.

  • I tried another Vortech on Friday

Same slow venting . I guess it's the design of the part . What I would really like is a cast iron vertical mount air separator . I can alsways use the extra space ......

    Yeehaaawwww!

That basement probably sounds like a swarm of angry bees when all of those pumps decice to come on at the same time! :-P

Ron, as usual, you and your merry band of helpers perform nothing short of magic, installing as much boiler and distribution, etc. as you in the little time that it takes you and your team. I really like how accessible you have made everything...

Presumably, you offered the HO the option to install a tiger-loop device with braided lines at the burner to make cleanouts easier and to reduce oil tank condensation? That could be a neat upgrade here...

Congratulations again... perhaps belatedly, but I have a lot on my plates right now. Cheers.
