It seems that the more eccentric you are, the coupling becomes much more acceptable, at least for a while :oP

On a note of more seriosity, do you mean "concentric" couplings?

Eccentric Couplings?

Are they readily available? I need 2"x1 1/4". Some yoyo installed regular reducing couplings on 2 horizontal runs at the end of the steam mains and it sounds like the 4th of July!

We got the same front here in Swampeast MO yesterday, but no tornados, just HUGE amounts of rain.

He does mean "eccentric" for the couplings (but they're actually reducers). The smaller outlet is offset so that the bottom of both connected pipes stays level. Most commonly used in steam systems.

p.s. I'd say that Demi Moore And Ashton Kutcher make a very eccentric coupling. Liza Minelli & David Guest actually makes some sense...

We only got 1.5" of rain, but those twisty things scare the cr44p out of me. That's 3 in my lifetime, 3 too many.

You're right Mike, a Liza & David coupling is not eccentric, they're both nuts. But doesn't eccentric mean "off-centre", or is concentric "off-centre"?

So, a reducing coupling where both of the bottoms of the inlet & outlet are at the same level, is an eccentric coupling, right? I understand it's usage in steam systems; it's to prevent condensate build-up in the lower "inverted hump" or "belly" of a regular reducer.

So what's a concentric coupling?

Now, back to this Demi Moore and Brian W. Swampster coupling. If you can arrange that, I'll come work for you for free.

Concentric : having a common center

Eccentric : off center; not having the same center.

Eccentric couplings is the correct term for a coupling that has its coonections offset so as to have a common plane for complete drainage.
