    Information

What kind of combustion test results do you have? Is there a barometric draft regulator on the unit and is it adequate for the chimney you are using. What burner are you firing, nozzle etc.? Boyertown has a web site, what do you get when you plug in Hallmark furnaces??

    Thoughts...

Do you have incomming pressure and manifold pressure on the valve? I have see simular senario with water somewhere before the actual gas meter believe it or not. Took a while before National fuel would did it up and.Sure enough that's what it was....
Mike T Buffalo.:...I'm sorry I didnt know that you were working on oil. My fault..

    Losing retention

I have had this problem on the LB85, I boosted the pump pressure very slightly, maybe 10 PSI, problem solved. I guess this would overfire the unit a little but at least it runs well.

Did you replace the nozzle? Is it a Beckett burner?

    beckett AFG
    1.00-80*B
    140psi
    has barometric.. -.04draft
    400*F stack temp
    12%co2
    f-6 head

i am going to change it to a f-3 head tomorrow to try that its running ok now but im not happy with the flame .
bit loose an globbie looking drops..i can still see the baro flutter slightly also.. not like it first was it sounded like a frieghttrain when we first fired it and it didnt get better..thought it could be a cold chimmney at first but thats not it...

i got it that good by changing the cleancut pump and control out to a A2VA suntec 140 psi and a 8184g honeywell

    say it ain't so

Please tell me you are going to go back and put the solenoid pump and interrupted duty control back on. You are masking the problem by going to an intermittent 8184G control.

    Hallmark

As with all problems associated with burner performance...
Its handy to RE_CHECK every setting, then using test equipment diagnose the problem.
Pump Pressure, Draft, Nozzle size, and even nozzle pattern can all be associated with lift off of the flame.
To much draft can suck the flame right off the retention head. Please keep us posted and ask more questions if you have them
