where do i pour the cleaner in my steam boiler?

if you have a way to isolate the return pipe and drain what comes back in it before the spooge hits the boiler . We use a mild liquid cleaner made by Sid Harveys . We pour it in before filling the boiler and let it fly through the system .

Oh yeah , if you have a water zone connected to the bottom , remember to flush all the crud out of that zone first before power purging it into the boiler . I learned the hard way about that ...

Where do i pour the boiler cleaner on my boiler? there are no open hole to pour it in. The safety valve takes up one opening and the other looks like theres a cotton type material on it.

    Cleaner

You have to remove the relief valve to induce the cleaner. Be sure to mix it with water so that it doesn't clog any controls in it's powder form.

    Either that

or clear a space on the shelf for it.

A well installed steam boiler needs no chemicals to be clean. Just a few days of run time and a good skimming.

    He's right

Cleaners are usually more trouble than they are worth
a good skimming is all most systems need.

You'll have to skim after adding the "cleaner" anyway.

Whatever you do-DO NOT steam a boiler with cleaners in it.
You'll end up bringing all the 20 year old dirt and rust in the pipes down to your boiler. And that's just not fair to the boiler is it?
