Replacing boiler- 2 for 1?
to directly heat any radiators ? With all that hot water heat in the house I would connect it all to a separate boiler . We started a replacement once where the HO was doubling the size of the house and wanted us to add 2 more zones to 4 existing hot water zones on a domestic coil in a steam boiler . With only 5 steam rads connected , we talked him into all hot water heat . If you decide to go all hot water , you gain the advantages of modulating and condensing gas boilers .

Replacing boiler- 2 for 1?
Does it make economic sense to replace a 1977 gas-fired boiler with 2 state of the art boilers? The boiler on my single pipe steam heated house was replaced with an oiled fired boiler in 1977. Since then the boiler has been converted to gas, hot water was plumped off to heat a windowed sun room(original steam radiatored converted to hot water), and hot water also taken off to pump thru a heat exchanger for an addition heated with a radiant floor system. I also have a gas fired hot water heater that doubles as the heat source for a hot tub heated by a heat exchanger.
I was thinking of keeping sun room hot water radiatior on the steam boiler(the room's original to the house with the same 1937 builing standards) and puting domestic hot water, radiant floor system and hot tub on the 2nd boiler. Am I heading down the right path?
Thanks, Steve0
