heat jacket on woodstove-need to pipe into hydronic loop

I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot, no make it a 20 foot pole.

WAYY too much liability.

You can't shut the heat source down fast enough in the event of equipment failure or power failure, then you end up with a BOMB connected to your wood stove.

Saw the aftermath of a steam explosion from one of these add on devices many years ago. It imbedded a 3/4" piece of type L soft copper into the side of a floor joist.

Awesome power not to be reckoned with IMPO.

I doubt if any heat recovery device on a wood stove flue would be insurable. Anything that lowers flue gas temps and creates creosote is verboten, as I understand it.

    Black magic :)

sounds like you want to tie this into an exisiting boiler system? If so it probably has a pressure relief valve included, and may, or may not be pressure protected.

If ever you had a blocked flow or air bubble you could turn that HX into a steamer :)

Still, these are risky at best. I doubt you would gather much "waste" heat. And in fact, improperly piped, it could drain heat from the boiler and warm and waste it up the flue when the wood fire is out.

If it sounds too good to be true...
