    Boiler burner

The natural gas burner in my boiler occasionally blows out the pilot light when gas is released to burn. I have checked that the pilot was burning immediately prior to turning up the thermostat, which it was, but when the gas comes on, it does not ignite and the whole system shuts off (fortunetly.) Right after this I can still hear the pilot tube emitting gas but there is no flame when I test it.

Another problem I have seen is that the high temp limit switch does not shut down the burner when it is set to a temp higher than about 160 degrees. If I set the high limit to 150 or less, it always shuts down when reaching that temp. However, any higher than 160 and it will boil water in the hot water system... I have called a reputable serviceman but who is/has been very busy; and boiler repairmen are not all that numerous and few are highly qualified in my area... anything I can do on these problems?
