AC Invertor on steam....

Can I power a simple single pipe steam using battery generated AC power? In other words, is the type of AC (I assume a square wave or modified sine wave) that is generated by a cheap inverter acceptable to power the pressuretrol or vaporstat, LWCO, thermostat, etc.? I want to use one of these portable power supplies. Thanks.

I don't see any reason you can't do that. Just make sure you have adequate power capacity; otherwise you can damage components.
Look at the plates on the burner motors and the relay power supplies. The total amperage should not exceed 80% of the inverter capacity. If you have an oil burner, you'll need even more margin to handle the start-up load on the motor.Steve from Denver, CO0
