Pipe Survey

Are we at a point in the radiant industry that when choosing pipe that you look more at the pipe type as much as the manufacturer. When I first started in radiant 12 years ago there was a small number of manufacturers and each was selling a different type of pipe. Now you have a choice of companies that sell the same type of pipe eg.pex A,Pex-Al-Pex.Has pipe become a commodity like copper? When you buy copper do you specify manufacturer and type or do you just ask for Type M or L? If this is the case then do you now start looking at price for your preferred type.
