Does anyone know if W&M used asbestos in their Model 872 boiler? In other words, do I need to have an abatement company come in to remove it?

cant
Can't find that number in my "old" weil mclain books... 1956 to present... If ur boiler is older than that, are u reusing or replacing?0 -
The 72 series
was made from 1956 thru 1975. Not sure when W-M stopped using asbestos- better have an asbestos pro look at it to be sure.

thanks Steamhead...
I found the factory sheet on this w/m boiler..its the biggest one of this model with 1270 steam sq ft or 2205 water sq ft. Its shows they used asbestos ropes for sealing sections and the base is claded with refactory combustion chamber... Chances are its abestos too.... Printed 19560 -
Believe it or not
the 72 series appears on the W-M CD that I got on the Wetstock tour four years ago.
