installed new ceramic floor, now valve will now reach radiator. is there a nipple of spacer I can use to bring up my pipe?0 -
Ah yes you mean the 1/2\" long nipple/spacer.....
They don't make one!!!!
OOOPS!!!
I have been on a few of these where everything was gravy until the homeowner tries to put the Radiator back on after raising the floor with new tile. OOOH NOOOO!
Most of the time there is enough play to just yank it up a little. If not, then you might have to just unscrew the nipple and buy a longer one. You might have to open underneath..
Good Luck!!!

Nipple extension
You need a nipple extension, this fitting is male on one end and female on the other I believe one extension gives you 1 inch

Thanks Jeff,
I thought there must of been something to fix this problem.
Where can I find this nipple?0 -
its called
Its called street coulping... Havn't seen them in a while....0 -
How high did you go?
I assumed you went about 1/2-3/4" up with the tile/cement backer board. Last time I used a 1" nipple extension it added 1 1/4", forget the brand.
What size pipe are you dealing with? Will it wiggle down?
Hopefully that works!

Also called \"extension coupling\"
or (my favorite) "pipe-stretcher".

Has anyone ever cut 3/8 in off the front legs of there radiators, thats all I need.0 -
outside of pipe(diameter) is 4.5 in.0 -
Hal, you must have measured the circumference
by wrapping your tape around the pipe. That circumference would calculate to an outside diameter (side to side) of about 1-1/2 inches. Since steel pipe in these sizes has walls about 1/8-inch thick, the inside diameter of your pipe should be 1-1/4-inch. This is a typical rad pipe size in older systems.

If the legs are solid iron
that would work. But some older rads had hollow legs.

all fixed.
Thank for all your information.
When I did the floor, the pipe was in the relaxed position, all I needed was 3/8 in. so I put a block of wood on the other side and used a crow bar to bring it up.It worked.
Thanks again for your help.0
