Check the Plumbing Board Web Site

They list products as approved for use in MA. Not sure about out of norm applications though. You may have to call the board or the Chief Inspector, Taylor Roth, Jr.

    I'm not sure

our Board will care if it's used as a boiler, Brad. Only if it is approved as a water heater if it is to be used as one.

I have one and I use it both as a pre-heater for my hot water heater and a pool heater through an everhot unit.

My wife loves it even if she has no clue what it is and what it is doing.

    Well, there you have it!

I figured the usual "every product shall be used according to it's listing" applied. Just to be sure I wanted to direct him to the board. The other part being, it may not even be approved by the board for what it is supposed to be.

    Figured you would know, though!

    Thanks, Jack.

IN NYC, a boiler is mfg'd as one and has the "H" stamp. It can be used for DHW also if it comes from the factory w/ the proper relief valve, and rating plate indicating the PSI. The typical laundramat uses a fin type boiler w/ storage tank for the dhw. That's a water heater, but the "H" stamp says it's a boiler. And duly inspected as such.
