My first condensing boiler
is a Weil Mclain Ultra 105 accompanied by a Plus 80 indirect. It's sitting in the basement of the house my wife and I are building and I am afraid to install it.
I have spent the last week reading and re-reading the manual and researching threads on this board and I've got the impression that it is imperative to install it exactly as shown in the manual. However, I would rather not. I would like to install similarly to Figure 1 of John Siegenthaler's "Hydronics Workshop" column in the April 2006 issue of PM mag. The main differences being the circulator for the indirect on the return and the PONPC on the return system manifold rather than the supply. I assume that this would be acceptable since it was published in the magazine but the information in the manual as well as all that I've seen here has me a bit leery. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Also, does the position of the closely spaced tee's make a difference. I have always piped my systems as shown in all of the diagrams with the boiler piping connecting to the middle portion of the tees. Can I pipe from the boiler into the middle portion of the supply tee as usual into the system and then back from the system into the middle portion of the return tee and then back through the end of the tee to the boiler?0 -
Can you
post a diagram?
As a basis of discussion:
If in doubt, default to manufacturer's instructions. I have utmost respect for John Siegenthaler but you have to understand that exemplar diagrams in a magazine are for educational purposes. Unless geared to a particular, specific piece of equipment, they are diagramatic. There is a presumption that the installer knows when to say "when" and "when not".
Posting a diagram will at least give the group an idea of the common elements.

can't pull up your .jpg or your diagram??? I seem to recall an error in the Ultra manual????0 -
I could not open them either....
I think between Siggy's diagram and the Ultra (if incorrect or not but with W-M help) we can get something workable.0
