I guess the installer did not know or care that the condensate needed to be neutralized before discharging .

    its effects. Here is a piece of ½" type M someone made-up to discharge from a condensing DHW tank at the floor. I wonder what it did to the rest of the underground plumbing?
    This lasted about 3 years.
