i have a past customer that called with unique question. They own a restaurant and they are create a very unique outdoor patio. The project includes sand volleyball courts and beach. Water features and a covered patio. The hard part is the heat. Summer nights are never hot here at 7000' in colorado on the average its 40 degrees in the heat of summer. As soon as the sun goes down you are reaching for a jacket. The customer is looking for a heating option for a covered tent 160ft2(80X20) I was thinking some sort of infrared heater. I think for safty we might be looking at electric. What do you think.
Thanks

Time shifted solar.
Electric could be very expensive. How about high temp solar heat collection and "temporary ground thawing" rubber mats just under the surface of the sand court?
This works as a suitable heat load during the summer months and the solar could also provide heat during the rest of the year for the building load.0 -
What's the budget?
A 2" layer of 3/4 washed compacted gravel
50 sheets of Warmboard.
Type L soft copper in the grooves
a header across the narrow dimension
a coil in the barbcue pit and or a mod con of your choice on a trailer
solar in an above ground insulated tank
the whole thing disassembles for winter storage on the boiler trailer
When can you start
I'd caution against any red hot gas or electric infrared heaters under a tent.
plenty of FA options but why pollute the mountain air with blower noise!

Solar umbrella
HR
We did talk about the radiant floor/solar idea. And I did get her wheels turning. I think money is not the object its all about the experience they want to create. I did find this website though with electric infrared. We also talked about a more perminant roof that we could use radiant ceiling too. The system would be heated by solar thermal and backed by a mod/con. Fun stuff too think about
Hey what about radiant seat cushions..........
Thanks

What about those portable mats Elway
use to advertise for. Designed for lift attendants at ski areas. I have a sales flyer somewhere around here.
As`Holohan would say "ask any hunter, if their feet are warm air temperature doesn't matter" something like that.
As long as they were not bare footed you could drive that WB fairly hot.

How about radiant table tops?
along the lines of my radiant desk top project.
I've always wanted to try a concrete pinic table like the Park Service uses in campgrounds. Mainly for durability.
But a radiant concrete pinic table top would be something special.
My neighbor works for Pre Stressed Concrete here in Springfield. With enough beer I'll bet he would throw me a top with some tube inside.
Connect it to some evac tubes on the roof of the tent for a daytime "charge"

Why copper?
HR Why not an AL pex in the warmboard. Wouldn't the copper deteriorate over time?0
