the water shouldn't back up that high. Since it is, you either have a plugged return or check valve or a bad Return Trap, or maybe the Pressuretrol is set too high.
A Gorton #2 main vent would work in its place, but if the water is backing up that high it will close that unit too. Find and fix the problem.

Steam Question
Apartment building, Steam system, 1 pipe with a Dunham #220 float type vent on the return pipe at ceiling in boiler room. float valve is shot, leaking through valve seat. Any ideas on functional replacement for this. This is a vapor system per the "book".0 -
