Pump recommendations

As I said in your other post, flow might be interesting in the conversion. Having the 3 speed pump would allow you some forgiveness in the form of flicking a switch.

pump recommendations
Hello,
I am currently in the process of hiring a contractor to convert my 80 year old gravity system to a new closed system. One of contractors I have contacted mentioned that he would use a circulator that has 3-way switch to select 3 different speeds. I have seen a recommendation for the Bell & Gossett 100 pump on this webpage which does not have a selectable speed switch. What does everyone think? Which type of pump would you recommend.
Thanks.0 -
hard to say what everyone thinks
however, if you take a look in the Library.....and Search under the topic at the top of this page...it would be like a light went on in another room for you.0 -
I use the
Grundfos UPS15-58fc. It is a nice 3 speed circulator. Esp with a boiler load as small as yours, it will be nice to be able to slow down the flow to get your 20 degree delta tee. WW

Start by sizing the circulator
to the radiation, as discussed in the link below:

This has no bearing on the size of the boiler. The boiler is sized to the building's heat loss, not to the radiation.
