Spring Freeze

It snowed here every day from last Monday through yesterday. Had our first sunshine in a week today but now NOAA site says we have 5-9" of new snow coming tomorrow through Thursday AM.
The millpond has ice on it again, my daffodils are flat and I'm glad I haven't taken the snow blower off the tractor yet.

We had 5-6 consecutive days with below freezing weather--two of which were in the upper teens and set record lows.

Previous week or two had been unusually warm with plenty of rain. Some trees (Bradford Pears, willows, etc.) were done blooming and fully leafed out. Most others had finished blooming with the leaves still expanding. Only the nut trees had no leaves but most were actively blooming.

Experts say, "It will look like fall without the colors for the next couple weeks." Wind is gusty and I see green/green-brown leaves flying everywhere. Most of the leaves on the trees are similar to the photo--completely wilted and look like they'll eventually rot and fall off.

Nut crop already claimed a total loss. Grapes a total loss as well (believe it or not MO is the 3rd largest wine producing state). Winter wheat is crop devastated.

Had planted much of my vegetable garden already--looks like it might have even killed the English peas. No fresh petit pois this year as it's too late to replant.

Only good side is that I was already noticing mosquitoes--hope it killed the buggers and they didn't have time to lay many new eggs.

To make it a bit heat related, I just left the Vitodens set on "standby" (set to standby in early March). It woke perfectly and kept the occupied rooms about 65F just like as if it were turned fully "on".

    You're too much :)

Are those the ones that'll survive GW cause they're adaptable ?

Last week on Tuesday it was 73*, excellent day for BB. Saturday I was scheduled to ump a double-header in the morning, 24* and 2" of snow.

I have been selling AC right along with Boilers/furnaces for 2 weeks so there is hope :)

    Radar image

We are about 15 miles east of where it says Cadillac on the screen. Things are about to get ugly again.
