Radiant Panel Over Asbestos Floor Tile
Has anyone ever used a Quick Track(Uponor) type radiant panel over an existing slab floor w/ asbestos floor tile? My customer believes the floor tile will act as an insulator but I don't have any documentation to back that up. The tile will of course add some factor f/ insulation between the Quick Track and the slab but I don't think it would be enough. Of course the only information about asbestos floor tile available on the web concerns it's possible link to illness.0 -
It's the adhesive
that would concern me more. Better find out what it's "comfort levels" are. I have witnessed moving tiles over a staple up radiant. Didn't smell so nice either.

First of all,how are you attaching the QT to the concrete/tile floor? I've shot down 3/4 plywood first then screwed the QT down.
With the typically low water temps of QT, the plywood, should be enough of a thermal break to prevent overheating the tile, and any offgassing that may occur. It should also seperate the cold concrete, from the warm finished floor.
