dirt on wall from baseboard

can anyone tell me- what would cause streaks on wall above
copper fin tube baseboard about 6 inches -12 inches above
baseboard how do you get rid of-how can you clean?

I would guess

that it is dirt carried there by the low velocity convection air currents produced by the baseboard when it's hot. It should wash off. Extra vacumming around the house might help, or a portable room air filter. Remove the dirt at it's source. Good luck. WW

That`s been discussed

many times here, but I can`t figure-out how to use the search to find the postings. What WW says is right, and it has something to do with the vapor-barrier(if any), allowing this air to permeate through to the outside, and the dust sticks to the wall along the way.

Black Soot on Walls

What would cause black soot to adhere to plastic windows, doors, woodwork & walls? We have baseboard hot water system. One company said it was from people burning candles but this is not the case. Thanks
