Thermostats

thermostats interact with outdoor reset? I mean if I decide to crank the heat up 8 degrees for some reason (my elder parents are coming to visit), the OR controls don't know this and potentially send warm not hot water through my baseboard.

Just curious as I am considering installing an OR (tekmar) control.

Thanks,

Tom

We use the new HONEYWELL VISIONPro 8000 for 99% of applications. They're great!

I have the Honeywell Visionpro 8000 for my steam boiler (attractive and reliable unit but expensive). I also have three LuxPro psp511La for my split central air systems and fhw loop off the boiler. They are reliable, not as high tech looking as the Honeywell touchscreen but less expensive to purchase.

    I'm also a fan of...

The Honeywell Vision Pro 8000 for programmable, and the Focus Pro 5000 for non-programmable applications. I also use the Focus Pro 6000 on occasion as a less expensive Programmable alternative.

I even use the Vision Pro Commercial for our commercial accounts.

I just love how they look, they're versatility to many different systems, and they are easy to program and set-up.

You can't go wrong with the Honeywell.

The difference between any Honeywell or White Rodgers (the old standards) versus any other brand is that these two brands have very tight temperature control--plus or minus one degree from setpoint. The other brands sacrifice temp control (and what's a thermostat for, anyway?)in order to get lots of silly features, a "slim profile," or low price. Lux is a cheapie, but not inexpensive enough to make up for the fact that it doesn't do very well what a thermostat is supposed to do.

The difference between the Honeywell touch screen and the W-R is that the Honeywell has more features for no more money. Honeywell has a green screen which they say is easier to see. W-R has a blue screen, which they say is blue.
