primary -secondary pumping & pumping away

The flow never goes in two directions in the same pipe. The loop with the higher flow rate takes on the other loop as a parallel path.

The last issue of Caleffi's <a href="http://www.caleffi.us/en_US/caleffi/Details/Magazines/pdf/idronics_1_us.pdf"target="_blank">idronics</a> might help.

primary -secondary pumping & pumping away

In a hydronic systems that has primary-secondary piping I use the first tee on the primary loop for my pump and pump away from the primary loop (the point of no pressure change). However, I have a friend that uses the second tee and pumps into the secondary loop.

When more than one pump on the secondary loop is running I have water going in two different directions at the same time, but my friends system will always flow in the same direction.

To help explain it, I'll say that my primary loop pumps clockwise and my secondary loop also pumps clockwise, so when they meet at the common piping it's like a two way street...but my friends system will have the primary loop pumping clockwise and the secondary loop pumping counter-clockwise so when they meet at the common piping it's a one way street.

    Which way is better?
