I feel bad

it was a great thread until it got out of hand! I think Dan showed great respect to many for allowing it to go-on as long as it did.

Dave

    I feel bad

I started the Inconvenient truth thread that ran 400+, and while it brought great information, and discussion, it inadvertantly resulted in the banning of a passionate man.

While I fully support open, and frank discussion regarding any topic here on Mr. Holohan's site, I fully respect his RIGHT to maintain or remove anything he feels goes to far. Some of mine have been and that is not censorship.

Open debate though does not mean you can rant and rave and give impressions about this (or any) site to a visitor that such vehemence is allowed.

JR is passionate about GW, fine, but from what I have seen he is not being open minded to anything but his thoughts. I admire the passion, but it almost seemed to possess him to a pont that his postings here and comments to Mr. Holohan were the equivalent of entering a home in a rage, pipe wrenches swinging and removing inneficient equipment because it is contributing to global warming.

It is not censorship for Mr. Holohan to remove posts, threads or even users...his efforts to produce an amazing heating site gives him the right to protect its reputation.

Thanks Mr. Holohan for everything you have done with this site, and I know barring JR was not an easy decision for you. I apologize for inadvertantly putting you in that position.

Everyone, please calm down, passion is fine, but keep it cool, rational, and informative. Better yet...lets drop it for a while.

    Regrets.

    Thank you,

but please let's not criticize John. He can't respond, and I do like the guy. These things happen from time to time. Let's just move on.

I do not criticize John for his

passion, I applaud it, my concern was how he was addressing people. The old you can get more people on your side with honey and a stick than just a stick applies here, I am thinking.

the 400+ was PRETTY COOL I agree

and like I said there was a lot of GREAT information, but it resulted in friction between Mr. Holohan and Mr. Runkhe, and there will be resentment betwixt the 2 because of what was done. Passion is great, but it MUST be tempered in forum discussions.

I feel bad, because Mr. Holohan was placed in a position where he had to bar someone I think he considers a friend(I do not know either personally, or their relationship, so it is pure speculation on my part), and it all stems from that thread.

    Peace to all.

    Mitch

That is why I feel bad.
  • Don`t Mitch,

disagreements are a "human trait", this too shall pass! I`m sure that after a time,,,things between those two will be back to normal. Cooler heads always prevail.

    time heals all

    wounds :)

You need to meet and sit down with John to really understand him. Hard to get a true feel for a person just on the world wide web :)

John may have had a load of momentum he lost control of.

He has done outstanding work for his customers and industry. I'm sure he will simmer down and re think his recent, head strong rant." He has the best of intentions.

    Yes and no, Mitch

Mitch, I agree with your sentiments but we can't re-define words to suit ourselves.
Censorship is not necessarily negative. Don't be afraid to say Dan censors his website. He does, and he must. And as one who has had posts censored here on occasion, I loudly defend his right to do so.
My 1st amendment right ends at the door to Dan's cyber shack. (aka The Wall.) As I said before, nothing wrong with a monarchy if you like the king. I risk censorship by adding this, but for the record, the LAST government this universe will ever see will be a monarchy ruled by a Righteous King! Thanks to Dan and you Wallies for all you teach me.
