ASHRAE Research

The new ASHRAE Research Bids / Proposals was announced today. Here is one topic that I thought ME would find interesting:
1388-TRP , Reevaluation of High-Altitude Effects on Operation of Gas-Fired Boilers and Water Heaters; Responsible TC/TG : TC 6.10 (Fuels and Combustion)
I know he has some "real personal" experiences with this topic ;) ME, you might consider becoming a part of this committee and volunteer to monitor this project. Nothing like having some real world experience assisting the committee when they are looking over the data. Like Rodney Dangerfield's "Back to School" experience if you ever saw that movie. I know the committee has some sharp / smart people involved both from academic and industry. But design/installing/service contractor feed back is invaluable.
But this shows you that ASHRAE is "in the game". All you have to do is show up at the summer meeting in California. Go to www.ashrae.org to learn more. And this applies to any contractor - ask Dave Yates what his experience was at TC6.5, radiant committee. And I will be the first to admit that we patiently work at ASHRAE to get things done - but we win more than we loose. Peter Simmonds who designed what is probably the largest radiant project ever (cooling and heating) - Bangkok airport was just honored as a Fellow for his work, so ASHRAE recognizes the value of radiant hydronics. (BTW Dan - like the spell check that shows up in thread during editing - when does "hydronics" become a word that does not require spell check correction :))
