adding radiators to existing hot water heating system

I'd make the basement its own loop, with its own thermostat and circulator. The energy savings due to better control would outweigh the extra cost. The basement loop should be designed from a heat-loss calculation, to make sure it can handle the job.
It's best to have a pro handle this. Try the Find a Professional page of this site.

add radiators to existing hot water heating system
I need to know if i'm on the right track. I have a forced hot water heating system in a typical raised ranch home. I believe this is a closed system because it incorporates a circulator. The loop comes up from the basement and runs around the top floor of the house. I want to bring the heat downstairs. I have a point that I can tie into the loop and make a loop downstairs and then back to the original loop. Good so far? I do not know however how to drain the air from the system once I tie in.0
