reillo trying to restart
I have a customer who has a reillo burner repeatedly starting and stopping. I'm out of the state, so I can't help him. I know that I have heard about this in the riello classes, but forgot what the cause was. I'm betting that it's a shorted cad cell but I don't remember. Anyone out there know what it is? Any help would be appreciated.0 -
As you know Frank
that entails alot of things,,,,,,how long as this been going-on for? What model Riello is it?

It just started, he called me on my cell. The burner cycles every 30-45 secs. I definitely remember hearing this in riello training, but that was over a year ago and we don't work on these very much.0 -
Riello`s are a nice burner

hope this will help
check the turbulator for carbon build up. this happen to one of my customers. cad cell partly lost the light the burner would stop and start. i cleaned the turbulator off and it's been running good. i also replaced the nozzle at the same time.
hope this helps you.0 -
Riello`s are a nice burner
it can only be 3 things, either #1- No oil #2-Cad cell #3- control box.

It really could be
a number of things . Mine happened to be doing the same a few weeks ago - kept dropping out and restarting over and over and over . A quick change of the primary control and all is well .0 -
Thanks guys, I'll call by covering company and have them head over with a reillo repair kit. I've got one at the shop but it's covered with dust! Dave, you're right. It's a great burner, great efficiencies and almost never breaks. That's the problem, people forget how to work on them.0 -
Ron Jr.
what model do you have Ron, I`m just curious? The only probs I have ever had with Riello, is the electric air shutter conversion.

I have
an extremely cobbled up BF3 . Everything on the burner is used . The hydraulic damper is so old it makes a baseball card in the spokes sound every time it moves . We've been getting a steady stream of old working Riellos on the ripouts so I'm stocked with extra controls , pumps , you name it . I don't bother diagnosing the problems on my own burner , I become a used parts changer0 -

interuption of ignition. Twice now I've had: a bat (the flying variety not Louisville), and a big stink bug - laying across the electrodes. It always breaks down to the holy trinity: air, fuel, ignition!0 -
For that kind of problem I may suspect a plugged oil filter,.. the flame dropping out on high vacuum.
If the riello cad cell is bad the burner will stay in pre purge indefinately.
Between prepurge and trial for ignition you have about 20 seconds maybe, If the burner ignites and then the flame drops out a few seconds later, its usually the fuel lines and filters.

why flame drops out
First let me ask you what does the pump strianer look like is it pluged? have you checked the coil with a ohm meeter? aslo the pins at the relay? if all looks good I have found grit on the pump coil stem close the oil off and remove the two screws under the coil on the pump the brass wheel should turn freeley
