Rinnai is making a FP that is DV which requires only a 4" hole and the unit is 20" deep. It modulates on both the gas valve and house blower and is over 80% eff. Check www.rinnai.us

    FIREPLACE OPTIONS

    I AM A HEATING CONTRACTOR CURRENTLY RENOVATING MY OWN HOME. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE INSTALLED MANY GAS FIREPLACES I AM HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING ONE TO FIT MY NEEDS. I WANT TO INSTALL IT ON A WALL THAT IS CURRENTLY LONG AND FLAT. I DO NOT WANT TO BUILD AN EXTERIOR CHIMNEY SO EVERYTHING WILL BE FRAMED ON THE INSIDE. THE SHALLOWEST FIREPLACE I HAVE FOUND IS 23 1/2 INCHES. AFTER THE FRAMING IS IN THIS WILL PROTRUDE TOO FAR INTO MY LIVING ROOM. HAS ANYONE SEEN A SHALLOWER TYPE OF EITHER GAS OR WOOD BURNING FIREPLACE THAT WONT STICK SO FAR INTO MY ROOM. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

    Heat & Glo Slim Line series

    go to www.fireplaces.com then click on HG and check out the Slim Line series of direct vent gas fireplaces. They are 16" deep and made just for this application.
