Still can't except this as normal, It's got to be bad for equipment. Thanks for the follow up call to Viessmann though. I believe that even if the burner must light on high fire there is a control based solution to this problem. I'm not seeing this on similar sized system with GB142 and tekmar 420. I maintain that a load based variable differential would greatly reduce this. Of note the GB tekmar setup I refer to was reaching target temp. faster than I felt it should, not dropping to min. modulation as fast as it should. I called Tekmar about this and they were quick to reveal that a newer software version than the one on my board existed. Three days later a replacement board arrived fedX which resolved this. Nice when a company will acknowledge a product shortcoming and be proactive in resolving it

Viessmann assures me there is no "Euro LGM" fix and that the "pulses" I see are normal for this system with the boiler "designed to do it". As I said years ago, you "may or may not see this 'pulsing'" depending on the system and how it's connected to the boiler.

I'm pig-headed however and I'll still see if I can actually increase efficiency. If not via solar (GREATLY preferred), I'll try outdoor sensor diversity and even heat tape.

    heat tape??????????????????

really mike, what are you going to gain by this other than high electric bills?

have you considered what it costs to maintain say 3000 btuh heatloss?

If Mike starts calling his Vitodens "Precious", I think we should have an intervention. ;-)

    Scott,

What version of LGM do you have? If you are unsure call Viessmann to find out
