bypassing a radiator

Sorry for my ignorance, I have a loop system that recirculates and am in the process of redoing my bathroom so I took out the radiator. Because the space is so small , I want to leave it out. What do I do with the existing pipes to connect them back to the system? What type of pipe should I use, etc.... Thanks for the help.

    Bypass

I do have to ask, what will you do for heat in the bathroom?

When you say that you have a loop system, do you mean a monoflow/diverter tee system with the branches going to individual radiators? Or a series loop system whereby cutting out one section kills the entire system? I presume the former.

Best practice in that case says, yes, install a bypass. My tendency would be to use the same material as is there now. Copper for copper, iron for iron.

If you cap them, the restrictors in the tees accumulate and affect the rest of the system. The bypass gives that water someplace to go and lessens the impact.

I would still try to get some heat in there though, maybe use the tees to make some staple-up or in-floor radiant as long as you are redoing your bathroom.

95% of jobs I seen when they took out the required raditor in bloched bathroom jobs wished they didn't removed it or having it done properly by the real boiler/piping pro... Better and safer than have hanging electric heater exposing to water, etc. Do what Brad recommended, reusing the ' t' connections for other scorce of heat that needed for bathroom.

    Thatsa Nice!

Simple one-zone radiant if properly applied.

Thanks Glenn. Where are you located?
