Location of an expantion tank?

Have somebody else come in and move a few things around. Your expansion tank is currently installed into the bottom of the backflow preventer: No! That openining on the bottom of the backflow should be piped with an overflow/discharge pipe and vented to the atmosphere.
Take the plug out of the bottom of the spirovent, install a brass nipple and a brass tee. Install the expansion tank in the bottom of the tee (vertically) and pipe the feed/backflow into the side of the tee.
From what I saw in the pictures, you need somebody else doing your work. Have the new guy look over the whole system, "cause I bet there are other boo-boos. Good luck.

Location of expantion tank?
Dose anybody know the best location where to install a expantion tank?
You live and learn everyday! He did install a Spirovent, but he chose to plug it up.0 -
I've never seen
an expansion tank mounted on the relief port of a back flow preventer!
Looks like you got yourself a true knucklehead for an installer.
That looks like an 011 on the pipe in the second picture. What's it pumping the water to? May be a little big for a HWBB zone.0 -
Expantion tank
Yes! There is a lot of other boo-boos in that boiler room.
We are currently in middle of repiping the primary loop, secondry loop, injection, mini tubeing, the whole 9 yards.
We will post them, before and after, once we finish it.
