steam heat risers sizing

When you say the sizing requires 2.5 do you mean the existing main size is 2.5?
I would use 2, 2" X 24" nipples comming out of the boiler (provided you have the height) and after your 2" horizontal piping you use a 2" X 3" 90 degree fitting into a drop header. Out of the 3" drop header you can have a 3" x 2.5" tee to go to your existing mains.

steam boiler riser sizing
How soon after exiting a steam boiler should the riser sizing be increased? The new Utica boiler has 2-2" tappings but the sizing requires 2- 2.5" minimum risers. Should they be increased immediately as with a close nipple? Can they be longer, say 8-10"?0 -
Sooner rather than later
Drop the velocity as soon as you can.... As a bonus of good practice, how about a dropped header to give the steam a second chance? If height is an issue that can give benefits across the board.
Nice dry steam off the top of a dropped and well-dripped header....0 -
