Leaking Gas Boiler Overflow Valve

I'm a new homeowner, and with the house, I inherited a Utica Gas Boiler (I don't know how old) that has started leaking sometime in the past week. It's leaking from the overflow valve on the side of the boiler, about 1 Gallon/12 hours or so. We've been in the house for a month, and haven't had any issues, but my father-in-law and I bled the upstairs radiators, and then the leaking started. The system has got an expansion tank that is full (at least partly) that I started to let some water out of. As soon as water started to come out of the expansion tank, the intake valve opened up to put more water back into the system. I'm new to this, and am unsure where to proceed. I assume the first step would be to replace the overflow valve, but any input any of you professionals can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Chris

    Expansion Tank

First shut off the valve leading up to the tank .Then with a short hose ,fully drain the tank. Average tank will hold 15 gallons. The water will trickel out at first until enough air replaces the water ....Short hose is needed so the tank could suck back in air.
