    with motorized bench?

if not building a shower and stationry bench with tiled floors and walls would be the best value.

space and the ability to get on an off a bench seat and not have to even hassel with standing up at all is the deal. in the true Clammy home enabled shower stall the shower valve of your choise would be easy to reach from the bench....and maybe might even have one of those Chubby toilet seat & stand so the folks could have some Mobility :)

    Hi Clammy,

I deal in mostly commercial fixtures but have found that most of the manufacturers have a quality accessible unit. You may want to have one with a seat, grab bars and an easily to reach shower valve and hand held spray assembly.

Two problems that can be forseen, which you may have already anticipated are (1) being able to get a one piece unit into the area and (2) finding a unit to fit the available space.

If you are dealing with an existing space that can not be enlarged I would suggest building in a seat (space available) and installing grab bars with proper anchoring.

As for a shower valve I would suggest you look at Symmons valves which you should be able to find on Google. It is a local company here in MA that is getting a larger national exposure and they make a high quality fixture.

What a nice surprise it will be.

    handicap shower

Clammy, Kohler/Sterling make a number of "breakdown" ADA shower units that will work in your parents bathroom. The key here is "breakdown"...a 1 piece unit will never fit through their bathroom door. While you're at it, Kohler (and other manufacturers) make a handicap height toilet (Kohlers residential model is called a "Cimarron"). It's nice looking and as it sits higher off the floor (17" with a regular toilet seat), it will save their backs when getting up and down. There are many shower valves to choose from, Symmons is an excellent choice, the hand shower with slide bar...perfect!

    ada shower/bath

We have stocked Aqua-glass for years & I feel they make a quality unit. I would recommend you look at an acrylic unit as they have a harder finish & resist hard water staining. Five year limited warranty. They make remodel units as well as 1 piece. www.aquaglass.com

    Barrier free.

    Clammy,

I completed a 538 unit assisted living facility in Bridgewater a few years ago and we used Lasco units. They worked great and didn't break the bank. You can get a Simmons or a Speakman shower valve pre-installed, or you can install yer own. Depending on the space available, you may have to get a modular (take apart one).

Here is the links to Lasco.
