    Hi John,

I admired the install over at HVAC-Talk. Looks like you like that curvo tool and are not afraid to use it!

I can see the primary loop and the way you tied the munchkin into it with closely-spaced Ts, but I do not see a circ on the primary loop. Is it hidden behind the Superstor? Or are you not going to bother with one because the Grundfoss pumps create enough flow by themselves?

The BBS here uses different "tags" to indicate pictures. Rather than insert "img" tags you need to use HTML code or upload the pictures directly. I would upload them here (use the attachments button to attach them to your message, then indicate which picture you want to show) because the pages will usually load faster here and the picture can't get lost/deleted as easily.

If you don't want to upload the pic here, you'll have to use the following code to embed it in your message:

    <img src="[URL of pic]">, i.e. <img src="http://img477.imageshack.us/img477/3373/img0352large7xr.jpg"> in this case.

Here is your pic referenced you intended:

    Thanks for the help!!

I could not figure this one out. The primary pump is attached to the boiler on the return side right in the middle of the pic.

Yes, it looks like the circ to the bottom left of the boiler.

That circ connects to the back(return) tapping on the boiler.

    Munchkin Install

I am readying myself to install a new Munchkin 140M boiler and SuperStor 45 Indirect Water Heater heating system in my 2400sf ranch home. The current setup is simple, but woefully inefficient. (Oil Boiler coverted to Gas) It is a Dunkirk 155btu with 3 zones. 3 B&G 100's (all original from 1956) handle the zones. 1" copper piping is original (also 1956) to baseboards throughout the house. Longest run is 100'. My plan is to go primary/secondary using 5 B&G NRF-22 pumps. (1 primary, 3 heating zones, 1 indirect water heater) I have a Honeywell R8888 4 zone Circulator Control w/ Honeywell AQ475 Outdoor Temp Control. Questions: 1. Any concerns regarding pump size on the 140M? Should the primary pump be larger? I have read about the mod/con boilers requiring more gpm than conventional units. 2. Will the controls I have work with the Munchkin and is the outdoor reset worth it? (140M has 925 controls w/o vision) 3. Do I need to include flow check valves on the return for the seconary loop? I am using Check-trol Isolation flanges throughout the system on the pumps. 4. Are circuit setters/Thermoflo valves necessary? 5. Is it better to pipe the indirect water circuit from the primary or the secondary loop? I've seen both. 6. Does the indirect water circuit need its own expansion tank?

I plan to do all of the piping myself, set up the controls, wire everything and then have a certified tech come out to finalize the gas piping, fill, purge and start up the new system. I feel like I have done my homework and have the top of the line in everyhting I am using.

Thanks for providing this wonderful resource. I have used the wall often in planning this project.

    Regards,

    Eric in Utica, MI 586-703-4076

    Munchkin install

    Hey rookie Eric.

This is a forum where pro's strut their stuff and where HO's come hat in hand begging for advice,

Can you hear the deafening silence,If I were a pro I too would be reluctant to offer my opinion to someone so cocky as you.

But I am a mere HO myself, however I assure you that that Honeywell control will not work with the munchkin you need the vision 1 control ...this is a modulating boiler been there done that doesn't work

The tech you have lined up to commission your work must be a good friend

my advice bring your shoulders forward start a new thread and help will be there

no offence my friend goodluck with your install
