Has anyone used the laing line of circulators? Was thinking of using the sm 303 for my kitchen floor warming. Two loops of 100', and 132' of 3/8" type L copper.

    Laing

I have used Laing circs. for many years in many applications. No problems to report. They are nice and compact.

    Wish I could...

... write such a glowing report. They are used here on DHW recirc loops and seldom last over two years. Closed loop is probably a better application.

I also tried using them on domestic hot water return loops
they didn't last as long as the "Taco" pumps that replaced them

    Recircs

Well in the literature it does state to keep water heater below 140 to avoid bringing calcium, and magnesium out of solution, which could wear on the pump. Orientation seems critical, as with most pumps. I'm wondering if the SM 303 will handle the head for the piping in my original post I get 4.25' @ .6gpm For the 132' loop of 3/8" type L copper.

Laing was the first recirc. pump we ever used. I loved using them because the were low RPM pumps and because of that, operated very quietly.

But like Larry said, they stop working after a couple of years and there didn't seem to be a local rep. around so we stopped using them. Switched to Grundfos and then Taco.
